The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act: What You Need to Know

For more resources, see our complete archive page here.

Meeting Description:
Last year Congress passed the landmark child nutrition reauthorization law known as the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Now it's up to the USDA along with state policymakers, community leaders, and parents to make sure it gets fully implemented so that students have access to healthier school foods.

What issues are emerging as the new legislation is implemented? And what can states and communities do to make sure the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act lives up to its potential?

Join us for a webinar on November 10 to learn more. We’ll talk about working effectively with your state Child Nutrition Program and reaching out to local partners like school boards, PTAs, and school health councils to get healthier food into schools.

Our expert panel includes:
  • Quang "Q" Dang, Legal Technical Assistance Director for PHLP's National Policy & Legal Analysis Network to Prevent Childhood Obesity (NPLAN)
  • Jessica Donze Black, Director, Kids Safe and Healthful Food Project for Pew Charitable Trusts
  • Tracy Fox, President, Food, Nutrition & Policy Consultants
  • Kim Kengor, National School Nutrition Manager, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation
  • Roger Kipp, Director of Food Services and Nutrition, Norwood City School District of Norwood, OH
  • Elizabeth Walker, Senior Director of Health Improvement, Association of State and Territorial Health Officials
  • Margo Wootan, Director, Nutrition Policy Center for Science in the Public Interest

Let’s make sure policymakers and communities put our kids’ health first.

This webinar is supported by funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
