The America Invents Act was signed into law September 2011 and represents the most significant re-working of the U.S. patent system since the U.S. Patent Act of 1952. A portion of the changes have gone into effect almost immediately, while the more significant changes — those addressing post grant procedures — will go into effect in September 2012. Recently, the USPTO published controversial proposed guidelines for implementing the September 2012 post grant procedures.
In this one-hour webinar John A. Bauer, a Member in Mintz Levin’s Intellectual Property group, will provide an overview of the new rules, explain how these rules have changed U.S. patent law, and address the recently proposed guidelines for implementing the various post-grant procedures. Attendees will also receive expert advice on how to maximize the strength of their patent portfolios under the new first-to-file prior provisions as well as protect their IP and attack their opponents’ IP under the new post-grant procedures.
