Meeting Description:
NFID Medical Director, William Schaffner, MD, will be joined by H. Keipp Talbot, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and Robert H. Hopkins, Jr., MD, Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, to discuss the disproportionate impact of annual influenza in the 65+ population and vaccines available to help protect them.
 
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the impact of influenza on adults age 65 years and older
  • Discuss how immunosenescence affects influenza outcomes and response to vaccination
  • Compare influenza vaccine options for adults age 65+ in the US
  • Identify best practices to overcome vaccination barriers
