WHYB "Worker Safety Wednesday" Webinar: Building a Workplace Violence Prevention Program

Meeting Description:
Workplace violence is a national problem and hospitals have a high rate of violence that leads to worker injury. Preventing violence is difficult but essential to reducing the incidence and impact of violence in the workplace and to hospital staff. Violence prevention isn’t the responsibility of a single person or department, rather, hospitals are taking a team approach to violence prevention programs. This webinar provides an overview of one hospital’s approach to building and managing a workplace violence prevention program. A review of specific tools used, training and education provided to support a program and case study information will be shared as an example of best practice.

Objectives
  1. Discuss and review the workplace violence prevention program at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
  2. Understand the threat of violence and its implications on building and sustaining a violence prevention program.
  3. Review specific tools and resources used to operate the program.
  4. Understand what is required to make a workplace violence prevention program successful; and what is needed to promote its involvement in the culture of safety.
This webinar will be recorded and a replay link will be available on the Workforce Safety Educational Archives webpage.
