Rachid Daoui, M.D., Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine, is Chief of the Nephrology Division at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga, NY. He is also the Home Dialysis Program Director for the DCI-Rubin Dialysis, which has the largest NxStage program in the country. Dr. Daoui has played a key role in clinical trials that led to the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the nation’s first—and only—hemodialysis device for use at home, overnight. In addition Dr. Daoui was one of the principal investigators of a landmark study, the Freedom Study (2006-2009), published by the International Society of Nephrology in 2012, which demonstrated the health benefits of at-home, short, frequent hemodialysis. Twenty-five percent of his patients rely on home hemodialysis, compared with 1.8 percent of kidney patients nationwide.
