USDA's Rural Economic Development Energy Efficiency Effort (REDEEE)


Meeting Description:

On July 17, USDA Secretary Vilsack  announced a proposed regulation to help rural homeowners and businesses make affordable energy improvements to their homes and buildings. The proposed rule will allow USDA through the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) to establish policies and procedures to implement energy efficiency loan programs aligned with USDA's Rural Economic Development Energy Efficiency (REDEEE) effort. Join us and hear from Jim Elliott, the Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Rural Utilities Service Electric Program. He will explain, in greater detail, what this program offers and what it means for utilities.

Jim currently serves as the Acting Deputy Assistant
Administrator of the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) –
Electric Program. He has over twenty years experience
with the Electric Program and has worked closely with
both electric distribution as well as power supply and
transmission cooperative borrowers.
Jim is a past recipient of the RUS Administrator’s Award
as well as the USDA Secretary’s Group Honor Award for
Excellence.
