Listening Online

Meeting Description:
Are the people you are trying to reach picking up what you're laying down or do you need to try packaging your story a little differently?

Nonprofit and community-based organizations are embracing social media as a tool for advocacy, engagement and mobilization. But as more groups use these powerful, public soapboxes to spread messages and tell their group's story, only a small number are “listening” to see how people are helping to spread the word across their social networks and to learn what messages their people are most responsive to.

This webinar will discuss examples of online listening and monitoring tactics for following social platforms such as blogs, video, Twitter and Facebook, discussion boards, and online mainstream media. Using simple, no-cost tools, you can create an “online dashboard” that gives fast insight into conversation trends on the issues and programs you care about.

Listening to how your audience is reacting to the story you are telling is a good way to guage effectiveness. It can also help identify who in your audience is reacting to what you have to say and what power players you still need to get to pay attention.
