Leadership for Healthy Communities, a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is pleased to present a webinar series exploring various elements of design and planning for the built environment to promote and improve health outcomes for communities.  
 

Design with People in Mind: How Open Spaces Can Improve Health

This webinar will discuss the benefits and challenges of protecting open spaces as a community design strategy that can help build healthier, more prosperous communities, provide more spaces for physical activity and active living, and provide additional co-benefits related to economic development, property value, and climate change/ air and water quality.  Speakers will discuss the economic benefits of preserving open space, detail efforts to reserve open space for youth and community recreation, and how to balance open space and park preservation with economic development in communities lower income communities. Presenters will share examples of successful policy options to promote community open spaces.
