March Open Forum: Investment Strategies for Plastic Free Seas

Meeting Description:

Roughly 8 million metric tons of plastic waste enters our ocean each year. Left unabated, our ocean could contain 1 tonne of plastic for every 3 tonnes of finfish by 2025. Globally, most of that is trash that is never collected, but instead is thrown into city streets or rural areas, or even directly into our rivers and seas. The lack of effective waste management is one of the greatest challenges we face in tackling this global issue. Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance®, has been working with partners around the world to build off of previous research and identify the barriers to effective waste management. This webinar will provide an overview of the marine debris issue, and dive into the recently released report The Next Wave: Investment Strategies for Plastic Free Seas. Specifically, you will hear from Ocean Conservancy and The Procter & Gamble Company about collaborative efforts and options to attract investment to effective waste management in countries where plastic inputs into the ocean are greatest.
