Small Places, Smart Mobility

Meeting Description:

Urban centers often get the most attention in transportation news, but there are small towns doing big things with new mobility. We invited speakers from Allen County, KS and Lone Tree, CO to share their exciting projects that are bridging the transportation gap for people who lack access to dependable transportation, or need a connection between their transit stop and final destination.

Allen County, KS will share their innovative approach to rural bikeshare. Facing poor health statistics and low density, Thrive Allen County thought that a 10 bike bike-share could be a useful resource for people when they visit town. A year and a half later, the program has been successful in helping residents who don’t have access to reliable transportation keep their jobs, make their doctors appointments, and bridge regional divides. Hear their story and how Thrive Allen County is continuing their exciting work.

Lone Tree, CO wanted to improve last mile connections and improve access to city resources. They worked with Uber to launch a pilot of on-demand transit. One year later, they’re looking back on the outcome—14,000 rides to transit—and looking forward to expansion.

The webinar will conclude with a Q&A and closed captioning services will be provided.
