Meeting Description:

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn from one chapter’s experience with an in-depth strategic planning process and the resulting innovative community programming. Workshop leaders from PFLAG Charlotte will share:

  • The fundamental steps to developing a strategic plan for your chapter, including:

    • Data gathering

    • Articulating a long-term vision

    • Developing strategic priorities

    • Building project plans in support of those priorities

  • A sample and adaptable strategic plan

  • Replicable educational programming best practices that stemmed from the strategic planning experience.  

We will also reserve plenty of time for Q&A so bring your questions!

Karen Tessmer Graci, PFLAG Charlotte

Karen Tessmer Graci is Executive Director and Board Chair of PFLAG Charlotte. Karen formerly served as Manager of PFLAG Charlotte’s Healthcare Outreach Initiative and has led educational and awareness workshops for healthcare providers, educators, and other community members. Previously, Karen worked with Deloitte in Washington, D.C., Wilton, CT, and Charlotte, NC where her roles included Manager of National Recruiting and Chief of Staff, National Human Resources. Married, Karen and her husband, Jeff, live in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have two daughters, Heather and Amber, and two adorable cockapoos. Karen enjoys playing bridge, traveling, and connecting people as we work together to create a more inclusive world.


Annabelle Pardo, PFLAG Charlotte

Annabelle Pardo is the Vice President of Development and a Board Member for PFLAG Charlotte. On her 9 to 5, Annabelle is the Human Resources and Office Administrator for an immigration law firm, and a property manager for her personal rental real estate portfolio. Previously, she worked in the banking industry for Bank of America and BB&T, holding positions as Vice President, Branch Manager, and Wealth Private Banker. Annabelle is married to Jorge Pardo and together they have two children: Nicolas and Sebastian. She enjoys traveling, dancing, and helping others with their entrepreneurial goals.


Jamie Henkel

Jamie Henkel is the Learning & Inclusion Manager at PFLAG National. She joined the PFLAG National staff in April 2008 as Operations Associate. Prior to her time at PFLAG, she completed two internships with the Richmond Peace Education Center and Hope in the Cities. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where she majored in Political Science and International Studies with a concentration in Social Justice Studies. She also received her Master’s Degree in Political Science from George Mason University.
