Pass or Fail: Evaluating How Industry Markets Food to Children

Meeting Description:

The youth population segment represents significant purchasing power in the United States, and food and beverage manufacturers spend billions each year marketing their products to children.  In the wake of criticism regarding the role of these marketing practices in the outbreak of the childhood obesity epidemic, many industries have taken it upon themselves to impose internal regulations on marketing to children.

This webinar will focus on the effectiveness of self-regulation of food and beverage advertising directed to children under the age of 12 – including industry and non-industry supported evaluations.  It will also highlight ways in which children’s programming can serve to promote healthy nutrition and physical activity habits in early childhood.
