Meeting Archive:
Implications of Medicaid Block Grants and Spending Caps for Seniors and People with Disabilities

Meeting Description:

In order to reduce the budget deficit, some federal policymakers are proposing significant cuts and structural changes to Medicaid in the form of block grants or federal spending caps.  Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of individuals with disabilities and seniors.  Such proposals would have far-reaching implications for access to health care and long-term services and supports.  Proposals, such as the recently passed House FY2012 Budget Resolution, would significantly shift costs to states and undermine consumer protections –resulting in loss of coverage, higher out-of-pocket costs, and reduced access of home and community-based services.  This webinar brings together leading economists and experts to discuss the severe implications for states, seniors, and people with disabilities.
