Kentucky Data on Drug Overdose & Prevention Programs: A Review

Meeting Description:
On this one-hour webinar we will learn from experts on Kentucky’s drug overdose data and prevention programs.
As the bona fide agent for the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC) drug overdose prevention interventions will be discussed. A primary intervention strategy for timely linkage to substance use disorder treatment facilities with available openings, will be presented by Dr. Terry Bunn, KIPRC Director.
Dr. Ty Borders, Professor, Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky Endowed Chair in Rural Health Policy, and Director, Rural and Underserved Health Research Center at the University of Kentucky,
 will present recent research findings on opioid use disorder treatment policies and access in Kentucky and the nation.

Ty Borders

Ty Borders, Ph.D. is a Professor of Health Management and Policy and the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky Endowed Chair in Rural Health Policy at the University of Kentucky.  He earned Ph.D., M.A., and M.S. degrees from the University of Iowa and a B.A. from the University of Kansas.  Dr. Borders’ research focuses on rural/urban, racial, and ethnic variations in population health and health care access.  He has supported his work through funding as P.I. from the NIH, AHRQ, and RWJF and is currently P.I./Director of the HRSA-funded Rural and Underserved Health Research Center.

Terry Bunn

Dr. Terry Bunn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health and the Director of the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC). She is the Principal Investigator for the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Surveillance, Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation, Core Violence and Injury Prevention, State Injury Prevention and the Kentucky Drug Overdose Prevention Programs. Terry is currently working in the areas of injury and illness surveillance and prevention, including the prevention of motor vehicle injuries, and drug poisonings in both the general and working populations.
