Meeting Description:

This webinar will be a discussion focusing on Complementary and Alternative therapies used in Multiple Sclerosis. We will discuss what complementary and alternative therapy means, and how to choose. In addition to vitamins and supplements, we will touch upon some therapeutic modalities such as meditation, homeopathy, acupuncture, acupressure, massage therapy (Reiki, Craniosacral, Touch, etc.), biofeedback, and use of herbs.

Jennifer Smrtka, ANP-BC, MSCN

Jennifer Smrtka is a board certified adult nurse practitioner (ANCC) and board certified multiple sclerosis specialty nurse (MSCN).   She received her BS in nursing at Michigan State University.  She received a masters of science nursing and nurse practitioner certificate at the Univ. of Michigan and has completed preliminary coursework for a doctoral degree in nursing practice at Columbia Univ.

Ms. Smrtka has held faculty teaching and clinical positions at UNC Chapel Hill Medical School and Columbia Univ School of Nursing in NYC.  At both academic posts, she was faculty nurse practitioner for the UNC MS Center and the Columbia Univ MS Clinical Care Center.  She has exclusively worked in MS since 2003 as a clinician, clinical instructor, consultant and a clinical research investigator.  She is an active member of the International Organization of MS Nurses and was elected to be a board member in 2008.  She currently has a private clinical practice at the Ft. Lauderdale MS Center.
