Transgene site of integration dictates clonal stability and the long term transcriptional activity of gene of interest in recombinant CHO cells. In this presentation, we will discuss the application of targeted locus amplification (TLA) technology to identify genomic sites of transgene integration and integrity of transgene sequence itself to assess the suitability of recombinant CHO clones as a candidate for generating candidate therapeutic lysosomal enzyme for pre-clinical studies.

Vishal Agrawal is a Scientist in the Research & Drug Discovery at Biomarin Pharmaceutical Inc. He is the head of the Bioreactor Scale-Up lab, which supports the CHO cells based bioproduction of protein therapeutic programs for the proof of concept studies in animals. He has about 10 years of industry experience in the field of therapeutic protein expression in CHO cells and has a track record of contributing in therapeutic programs ranging from Biosimilar development to enzyme replacement therapy for lysosomal storage disorders. He holds a Ph.D in Biological Sciences from Freie University, Berlin and Bachelors & Masters in Biochemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India.
