Heather Flattery, MPH, CHESĀ®

Heather Flattery is the Manager of Membership and Marketing at SOPHE.  Heather is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and alumni from the Eastern Virginia Medical School of Norfolk, VA for her MPH and Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ for her BS in Public Health and a minor in gender studies.  Her primary interests in public health are the empowerment of women and girls, comprehensive sexuality education, nutrition, holistic wellness models and mindfulness and support for U.S. veterans.  Through the building of membership and marketing SOPHE products and campaigns, she is focused on passion projects and growing professionally to better serve other public health professionals thrive.

Keon L. Gilbert, DrPH

Keon L. Gilbert, DrPH is an Associate Professor for Behavioral Science and Health Education at the College for Public Health and Social Justice at Saint Louis University.  His research interests include social capital; health disparities; African American men's health; health promotion and disease prevention interventions for chronic diseases.  Dr. Gilbert is a Trustee of the Society for Public Health Education and a representative member of the membership committee.

Leonard Jack, Jr, PhD, MSc

Dr. Leonard Jack was appointed Editor in Chief of Preventing Chronic Disease in October 2016. He comes to PCD after serving as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Division of Community Health (DCH) in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.  Dr. Jack has significant experience in scientific publishing, having served for four years as Editor in Chief of the Health Promotion Practice, published by the Society for Public Health Education, and in 2018 was named Emeritus Editor in Chief. His areas of research expertise include sociocultural aspects of disease management, family- and community-based research, men’s and minority health, program evaluation, and psychosocial aspects of managing chronic diseases. Dr. Jack completed his Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Behavioral Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University.
