David studied creative writing at Iowa State University, film at Howard University in Washington, D.C. and language studies at L'Universite de Montpellier in France. David is also an accomplished photojournalist and filmmaker.

Laura has taught and counseled children from preschool through high school in a variety of educational and mental health settings for 30 years. Her current roles include professional school counselor at Stafford Primary School in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District and adjunct faculty for Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling.
