Local and state health department preparedness staff are encouraged to participate in the September 20 webinar, “Managing Administrative Preparedness Burdens on State and Local Health Departments.” Hosted by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the webinar will introduce an ongoing initiative aimed at improving administrative preparedness.
State and local health departments are often challenged by the need to accelerate, modify, streamline, and accountably manage authorities and practices that govern the administration and monitoring of funding and legal capabilities necessary to mitigate, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies. This includes the procurement of goods and services, contracting with vendors, and hiring staff. ASPR , CDC , NACCHO, and ASTHO have begun working with state and local partners to identify some of the common challenges across health departments as well as potential solutions to improve administrative preparedness. Through participation in the webinar, participants will have the ability to:
1. Define administrative preparedness.
2. Understand national efforts underway to support state and local administrative preparedness efforts.
3. Identify common administrative preparedness challenges encountered by state and local health departments.
4. Understand potential activities state and local health departments may take to improve your agency’s administrative preparedness.
