A Distinctive Osteopathic Pediatric Residency Curriculum

Meeting Description:
In this webinar, Dr. Kimberly Wolf will describe the curriculum and components of the Pediatric Residency Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the first pediatric program to receive ACGME Osteopathic Recognition. The program integrates Osteopathic Principles and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine throughout its three-year curriculum, and integrates osteopathic research to produce practicing osteopathic pediatricians. Webinar participants will also learn about a key component of the resident’s education, the pediatric OMM clinic, where residents are able to practice their skills on patients with diverse pathology beginning at birth.
Webinar attendees will be able to better:
  • Discuss the importance of unique osteopathic training programs in the era of the single GME accreditation system
  • Review the curriculum for the Osteopathic Track in the Pediatric Residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital
  • Discuss the Pediatric OMM clinic at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and how it was integrated into medical student/resident education

Dr. Kimberly Wolf received her medical degree at Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 2010. She completed her internship and pediatrics residency training at the Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) Dually Accredited program in Columbus, OH. Dr. Wolf began her practice at NCH as a general pediatrician and also ran the pediatric osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) clinic. In 2016, the dually accredited pediatric residency program at NCH, became the first pediatric residency program to receive Osteopathic Recognition. Dr. Wolf became co-program director for the residency at that time.

Dr. Wolf is currently the Director of Pediatric OMM at Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a board-certified pediatrician, and fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians and American Academy of Pediatrics.
