Usage of Nylon in this application it’s optimal due to its mechanical and barrier properties, but also drawbacks in terms of decrease of properties by hydrolysis degradation and reduced oxygen barrier after the process caused by the so called "Retort shock".

This webinar will show how by using a newly developed Nylon Copolymer and re-engineering the design of the film structure, it’s possible to develop new generation of flexible packaging with enhance resistance to the retort process and improved shelf life.

Sergi Salva Saez, Technical Development Manager, UBE America

Before joining UBE in 2004, Mr. Salva graduated from the University of Valencia with Master’s degrees in both Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science.

He has spent the last 14 years in UBE’s R&D/technical service organization, mostly focusing on films and solutions for food packaging. Within R&D, he’s held different roles like R&D engineer, Project manager and R&D team leader.

In 2016, Sergi moved to Michigan to support UBE America as Technical Development Manager to help with the growth of the company in the US/Canada and to speed up developments including the establishment of a local technical service center and leading projects with academia.
