Equitable transportation policy that fosters healthy, opportunity-rich communities has a critical role to play in reversing childhood obesity. The federal transportation legislation authorizes national transportation policy and the allocation of federal funds for transportation projects across the country. This webinar will provide an overview of federal transportation policy and various funding streams. It will include promising strategies for equitable transportation decision making that will help ensure all children and families have access to safe, reliable, affordable transportation options that encourage healthy, active lifestyles.

Mildred Thompson provides day-to-day direction and management for the center. Drawing from her extensive knowledge and experience on the impact of place on health and in advancing policies and strategies to create healthy environments that support healthy eating and active living. She also leads the work of the PolicyLink health team, participates in research focused on understanding community factors that impact health disparities, and identifies practice and policy changes needed to improve individual, family, and community health.
